What you get in the export

The file contains one row per top-level comment. Each row has the comment text, the commenter's username and display name, whether the account is verified, the number of likes, how many replies the comment has, and the time it was posted. Replies themselves are not included; the reply count tells you when a thread is worth opening.

One export collects up to 500 comments. That is enough for most giveaways, surveys of feedback and sentiment checks. For larger posts, export the first 500 and note that more exist.

Fair use and limits

Collecting comments from Instagram is slow by design, and each visitor has a daily allowance so the service stays available to everyone. The page shows how many comments you have left today, and it will not start a job if you are nearly out.

Comments belong to the people who wrote them. Use exports for analysis, moderation and giveaways with clear rules. Do not use them to harass, contact people who did not opt in or build lists for spam.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about the Instagram Comment Exporter.

How do I export Instagram comments to Excel?

Paste the post link, press Export comments, wait for the job to finish and download the CSV. Excel and Google Sheets open it directly.

How many comments can I export?

Up to 500 per export, subject to a daily allowance per visitor that the page shows before you start.

Does it include replies?

No. It exports top-level comments and shows how many replies each has.

Can I export comments from a private account?

No. Only public posts with comments turned on can be exported.

Can I use it to pick a giveaway winner?

Yes. Export the comments, remove duplicates and entries that break your rules in a spreadsheet, then draw a winner with a random function. Publish your rules in advance.

Why did my export stop early?

Instagram stopped returning comments, the 500 cap was reached, or the job timed out. The page tells you which reason applied.
