Original sounds and licensed music
Instagram has two kinds of audio. Licensed music comes from a catalogue, with a title and an artist. Original audio is the sound recorded in somebody's Reel, shown as Original audio with the creator's name. This tool handles both. For a Reel link it extracts the audio track from the video; for an audio-page link it reads the track details and its download stream.
The result tells you which kind it is, so you know whether you are saving a song or a creator's voice-over.
Using downloaded audio
Music in Reels is licensed for use inside Instagram, not for reuse elsewhere. A downloaded MP3 is fine for private listening, but do not publish it, use it in monetised videos or redistribute it without the rights holder's permission. Original sounds belong to the creator who recorded them.
The MP3 is as good as the audio Instagram stores for the Reel, which is generally compressed AAC at a moderate bitrate. It will not be studio quality, and we do not upscale it.

It is the audio Instagram stores for the Reel. It is compressed, so expect a typical streaming-quality MP3, not a lossless track.
Is it legal to download music from Reels?
Private listening is generally tolerated, but the music is licensed to Instagram, not to you. Do not reuse it in published or monetised content without permission.
Why is there no preview for some sounds?
Only some tracks expose a preview clip. You can still download the MP3 without one.
How do I download audio from Instagram on iPhone or Android?
The steps are the same on both. Copy the Reel link in the app, paste it here, press Get Audio and then Download MP3. On Android the file lands in Downloads and opens in any music app. On iPhone it appears in the Files app under Downloads.
