How to download Instagram Reels with music, or just the audio

Updated October 30, 2026

The music in a Reel is part of the video, so a normal download keeps it. If you want only the sound, there is a second route.

Keeping the music in the video

Paste the Reel link into the Reels downloader and choose a quality. The MP4 includes the soundtrack, whether it is a licensed song or an original sound. For the higher qualities the server joins the separate audio file with the picture, so the saved video plays with sound.

Saving only the audio

After the Reel loads, press Download audio to get an MP3. For a particular trending sound, paste its audio-page link into the audio downloader. It shows the title and artist, a short preview where one exists, and how many Reels use the sound.

Original sounds versus licensed music

Original audio is recorded by the creator. Licensed music is a song Instagram has a deal for. Both download the same way, but the rules for reuse differ. Instagram's licences cover use inside the app, not publishing elsewhere. If you plan to reuse a song in your own video outside Instagram, you need the proper licence.

Sound quality

Instagram compresses audio. The MP3 you get is only as good as the source, which is fine for listening on a phone and not studio quality. If you need a high-quality track, find the song on a streaming service.
